The Dadio Farm Remembered

Barbara Dadio wrote that her family's property, including the house and barns, was sold to the Town of Hamden in 2007. Shortly after the property was acquired by the Town, the Hamden Fire Department was able to conduct live fire training in the house before it was razed.

This may seem like a very undignified end for such a beautiful building. But since the Town has no permanent training facility for live fire training, and with the wrecking ball an inevitability, this was a very noble way for the doomed structure to serve the community, by allowing its firefighters to hone their firefighting skills in a relatively safe and controlled enivronment.
